Photographer Oscar Huettner spent almost 40 years taking photos of the people of the prairies. Based in Mobridge, South Dakota, many clients came to his studio, but he’d just as often go out on the road. He was well known for his portraits, including some of the local Lakota tribal elders. The studio is long gone now – the building was sold and demolished in the 1990s not long after Oscar’s wife Emma passed away. But many of his pictures are still around – some on display at the Klein Museum in Mobridge, South Dakota.
This is is a tribute to his work. We’ll post pictures he took, stories about his life, and information about both his ancestors and (maybe) his descendants.
